Sonia Muir has taken over from Ann Le Marseny as a teacher and educational consultant. Sonia has a background in leadership, capacity building and teaching. Her most recent role was managing a Business & Social Resilience program within the New South Wales Department of Primary Industries (Australia) which focused on working across rural communities developing projects targeted at rural women, farming families and younger people interested in agriculture. She has also worked in the community education sector and high schools.

At Sanon Sonia will continue to deliver and review the existing Sanon English hospitality program while mentoring Myanmar nationals in effective teaching techniques. The longer term aim is that they will then take her place and become the program's 'English' teachers. This will contribute to the sustainability of Sanon's vision of creating opportunities for disadvantaged youth to gain employment in hospitality, having learned the broad spectrum of restaurant skills and being more confident in using English language.
